Review: The depowered Wonder Woman stories can be tricky to evaluate: So many stereotypes, yet such an earnest effort to do something different with the character. This Mike Sekowsky story falls short of its fable-ish aspirations, while his protagonist lacks any real agency in the proceedings. The art, on the other hand, is simply top shelf. Wally Wood is the perfect inker over Sekowsky’s pencils; their collaboration recalls vintage Alex Toth. Despite its shortcomings – or perhaps, in part, because of them – Wonder Woman #195 is a fun product of its time.
Grade: B
Cool factor: Sekowsky and Wood are a fantastic art team.
Not-so-cool factor: Oh, I Ching. You haven’t aged well.
