Title: “Adventure into Fear!”
Synopsis: Trying to catch their breath in the Everglades, the Micronauts instead encounter the smoldering touch of Man-Thing!

Writer: Bill Mantlo
Penciler: Michael Golden
Inker: Joe Rubinstein

Review: Writer Bill Mantlo delivers a better-than-average script this outing, milking some nice character moments from his diminutive team’s chance encounter with the muck monster Man-Thing. But the slow-developing subplots back on Homeworld continue to be more interesting than the Micronauts’ adventures on Earth. Hopefully, they’ll find a way home soon so the series can maximize it’s space-opera underpinnings. Meanwhile, the art – which has been this series’ strength – slips a bit this issue. While there are still some striking panels – particularly of Man-Thing – this overall outing looks a bit rushed.

Grade: B+

Second opinion: “A fine installment of the saga.” – Martin Lock, BEM #24, July 1979 …Recommended by The Slings & Arrows Comic Guide (second edition), 2003.

Cool factor: Michael Golden drawing Man-Thing.
Not-so-cool factor: Hey, Micronauts, it’s time to go home.

Notable: Guest-starring Man-Thing. … The “Micromails” letters page includes a short bio of writer Bill Manto.

Character quotable: “There is DANGER!!” – Princess Mari, apparently queen of “no, duh!”
