Review: The Teen Titans creative team hits its groove with this excellent interstellar epic. Marv Wolfman continues to showcase another of his creations, the Omega Men, to excellent effect here. The cast is getting crowded, but the writer finds time for each character along with some excellent world-building. The new villains are all terrifying, with each hitting a different horrific note than other foes. George Pérez is, of course, the perfect artist for this jam-packed affair. His work is detailed and dense, but never feels overcrowded. A top-shelf mix of sci-fi and superheroics.

Grade: A-

Second opinion: “In an effort to hype his Omega Men, Wolfman has injected twice as many characters as he needs into this mess of a story. … 1 out of 5 stars.” – Comics Coast to Coast #3, 1982

Cool factor: That’s a striking George Pérez cover!

Notable: First appearance of X’Hal. … Guest-starring the Omega Men.
Collector’s note: According to the Grand Comics Database, there is a 75¢ Canadian variant of this issue. … According to MyComicShop.com, there is also a Mark Jewelers variant.

Character quotable: “Men fear hell, and all men shall fear the power of – BLACKFIRE!” – Blackfire, not the favorite sister
