Title: Untitled
Synopsis: The Micronauts regather on Homeworld for a final battle with Baron Karza – with help from the Enigma Force!
Writer: Bill Mantlo
Penciler: Michael Golden
Inker: Al Milgrom
Review: Wow. Bill Mantlo uses epic notes for this concluding chapter: full-out war, cosmic forces and a bitter battle to the finish. Commander Rann goes full Phoenix, transforming into the Enigma Force and laying a serious smackdown on Baron Karza. While not everything makes sense, the scale of this conclusion imbues the story with mythological weight. Kudos also to Michael Golden, who’s work here radiates Kirby-esque power. Even Al Milgrom’s ink work is solid. Micronauts #11 is a comic firing on all cylinders, bringing this first story arc to a satisfying – and cosmic – conclusion.
Grade: A-
Second opinion: Recommended by The Slings & Arrows Comic Guide (second edition), 2003.
Cool factor: This one brings the cosmic.
Not-so-cool factor: It’s also a little woo woo, if you stop and think too hard.
Collector’s note: According to MyComicShop.com, there is a Mark Jewelers variant of this issue.
Character quotable: “We are the one and the many, man and immortal, Micronaut and Time-Traveler! We are the ENIGMA FORCE!” – Commander Arcturus Rann, occasional Enigma Force host
