Review: Following their signature “Judas Contract” arc (see reviews), New Teen Titans co-creators Marv Wolfman and George Pérez take a moment to breathe and set up future developments. Transitional issues are nothing new for this series (see New Teen Titans #8 for a classic example) and this one sets several plot threads in motion. Each character gets a moment or two and then we’re off to battle H.I.V.E. … again. One note on the art side: New inker Mike DeCarlo’s work is solid but leaves Pérez’s pencils looking a little flat.

Grade: B+

Cool factor: Looking forward to more with Cyborg’s grandparents.
Not-so-cool factor: Kid Flash and Raven’s melodrama. Move on, already.

Notable: Guest-starring Aqualad and Aquagirl.
Collector’s note: According to the Grand Comics Database, there is a 95¢ Canadian variant of this issue. … According to MyComicShop.com, there is also a Mark Jewelers variant.

Character quotable: “Oh, Tucker, you know how busy he is. Didn’t he say he was a Tight Teener, or somethin’ like that?” – Maude Stone, Cyborg’s grandmother
